Walking Trip in Granada 19-26 October 2008 Organiser: Colin Bagnall Walking holiday in Pantano de Los Bermejales, Alhama de Granada Pantano de los Bermejales is a small hamlet on the shores of the Embalsa de los Bermejales. The embalsa is approximately 12kms from the town of Alhama de Granada, which is a pretty, historic spa town approximately 50kms from Granada. It is famous for its thermal springs which have been is use since Roman times. It is surrounded by rolling countryside covered mainly in olive groves and punctuated by deep ravines some over 100m in depth and is ideal countryside for walking and climbing. Wildlife is abundant with ibex, wild boars, etc. The lake is popular for all types of water sport. The main mountain of the area is Maroma at 2035m, with good views to the coast and on a clear day Africa. It is in the middle of a sierra which joins the Alpujarras on the other side of the Granada-Motril road. Accommodation will be in a small hostal, El Cruce, in the hamlet of Pantano de los Bermejales and comprises of the following: A/ 5 bedrooms with bathrooms.1 matrimonial 4 doubles - already reserved B/ A flat with 4 double bedrooms 2 bathroom C/ A flat with 2 bedrooms, 1 matrimonial and 1 double D/ A flat with 1 matrimonial, 1 double and 1 bathroom or 1 matrimonial and 2 singles. (Obvious difficulty of 4 people per bathroom, will require cooperation and NO complaining later). Total of 26 places (10 places already reserved) Food will be typical Spanish and choice for dinner will be made at breakfast time, those in flats may prefer to fend for themselves at breakfast. But don't forget to order evening meal, which will include 1/2 bottle wine each IVA and tip. There is one shop in the hamlet. Cost: €25/night all inclusive, €50deposit required, payable to Sue Bonser €5 supplement for single room which can be reserved but priority is being given to those who wish to share. |
